March is National Nutrition Month® and this year the theme is “Go Further with Food”. Let’s celebrate by fueling our bodies with a variety of nutrient dense foods, being mindful about portion sizes, minimizing food waste, enjoying physical activity and following safe food practices to get the most out of our health. Reach out to a Registered Dietitian when you need help to start making changes, connect with food in a positive way and also to keep yourself motivated with small changes that make a big impact on your health.

 

Are you ready to step up your nutrition game? Here are 3 ways that you can go further with food.

 

  • Plan ahead. By planning ahead you are setting yourself up for success with healthy eating so that you can fuel your body. Having a plan will also help you minimize food waste, which saves money too.
  • Take the time to read food labels and check the ingredients list to get the most nutrients out of your food. Be an informed consumer and be aware of what’s in the food that you are eating.
  • Be adventurous with food. Pick up a new fruit or vegetable that you have never tried before. Don’t be afraid to experiment with recipes and enjoy a variety of spices and herbs. Food should taste delicious and be pleasurable.
